MICKI'S MINI FARMSTEAD
Little Farm, Big Dreams
Once upon a time, two young city people, Micki and Seth, decided chickens were cute and wouldn't it be fun to have fresh eggs. So, Micki made her first trip to the farm store to pick up 4 chicks...she left with 7. Micki and Seth knew they stumbled onto something fantastic!
"Why do people even have dogs?" Seth said. "Chickens are so much more fun, plus they give you food!"
Micki began obsessively researching and learning about organic gardening, animal husbandry, and self-reliant living. Seth thought this was awesome. Eventually, Micki was introduced to the principles of Permaculture and the beauty of working with nature instead of against it. Only one year after their first chickens, and many, many battles with the HOA later, Seth and Micki bought a humble old farm house in the middle of American Fork City and hit the ground running with their homesteading adventure.
Micki loved devouring research on Permaculture, so much so she completed a professional Permaculture Design Course and is actively involved in multiple local and international homesteading and Permaculture education circles. She has gratefully been mentored by many local and international farmers, goat and chicken breeders, veterinarians, professional horticulturist, and Master Gardeners.
Micki will gladly talk your ears off about any of these things. Just ask her!
